CHIC IT UP

Hello. I'm Alison and about five years ago I returned to my love of furniture after taking a break from the antique business to pursue other ventures. As a result, I founded the Studio at the Lido to show and sell my upcycled furniture. I also sell from my Chic It Up website (click on any picture), my Facebook Page, and my Etsy Shop (click here).

I choose to work with solid vintage furniture that is always going to be useful in any home; side tables, lamp stands, cabinets, chairs, chest of drawers, and mirrors. Firstly, I begin by thoroughly cleaning each piece before sanding and priming it. I then apply at least two coats of chalk paint and decide on what paper to use that compliments the design and colour before using either wax or a top-quality sealant to finish the piece. I'm constantly surprised by the speed of turnover for my work; it sells so quickly!
